PHOTOGRAPHERS spanning nearly 150 years of life in the borough are due to go on show.

Curator Philip Lane has spent some 40 years collecting the images, which can be seen at Chelsfield Village Hall, in Bucks Cross Road, Chelsfield, on October 17 and 18 from 10am.

More than 6,000 photographs will be exhibited and there will be a slideshow at 7.30pm on October 17. Old maps, guides and wartime ephemera will also be on display.

Mr Lane said: "It all started when a friend lent me some albums of Chelsfield in 1975. Then more people started showing me postcards and within weeks I had a few hundred images."

This will be the last show for the foreseeable future as the collection has grown so large.

Mr Lane added: "It is becoming very hard work but of course I want people to see these images. I like to share these things. That's why I do it.
