AN association that promotes the work of artists is celebrating its first birthday this month.

The Bromley Creative Community (BCC) celebrated on April 1 at the Bricklayers Arms, Masons Hill, Bromley, where they cut a commemorative cake.

The community was launched with the support of the council in March last year, and aims to promote the commercial arts, graphic arts and performing arts in the borough.

Founder member Jackie Barrie, from Comms Plus, said: "Our aim is to expose creative businesses to new clients through our website and at events, with the aim of enticing more business into Bromley.

"Many of our members have won business by collaborating with each other so we create a range of opportunities for them to meet face-to-face." Over their first year the BCC has held a number of artistic events, including a welcome party at the Churchill Theatre, a Christmas event and they hold a monthly pub meet up for members.

The club is run by a committee of members, who have developed a website where individuals and businesses from Bromley who are looking for creative suppliers, like a graphic artist to design a leaflet, can request a quote from a Bromley-based business online. It offers a range of membership options for artists to get involved, from a free basic membership to paid-for premium option.
