Police are tracing the driver of a white car which stopped at the scene of a fatal collision in Orpington yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Crofton Road at around 10.15am after receiving reports of a car hitting a pedestrian.

An elderly woman, believed to be in her 70s, was taken to Kings College Hospital, in Denmark Hill, where she died shortly after arrival.

The car, a Jaguar X Type, stopped at the scene and the driver was not arrested.

Officers are now looking for possible witnesses to the accident, and are particularly interested in tracing a white car which stopped at the scene before driving off towards Locksbottom before police arrived.

They also wish to speak with a woman waiting at a nearby bus stop who may have witnessed the incident.
