Police officer dies after heart attack in Beckenham post office

PUBLISHED: 10:46 14 November 2012

An off-duty police officer collapsed and died at a Beckenham post office last week after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Mark Parsons, 43, of Croydon Police, was treated by ambulance crews who were called to the scene in Croydon Road at around 10am on November 6.

He was taken to Croydon University Hospital after extensive efforts were made to resuscitate him at the scene, but sadly died later that morning.

Acting Croydon Borough Commander, Supt Rob Atkin, said: “He was an outstanding police officer who genuinely cared about the people and communities he served.

“He will be deeply missed by all of his friends and colleagues here at Croydon.

“Our thoughts are with Mark’s wife, two children and family and we will be doing all we can to support them at this terrible time.”
