POLICE have confiscated more than £116,000 from convicted criminals in the past financial year.

Bromley Police Financial Investigation Unit confiscated £116,430.75 in 2007/2008 and has obtained orders allowing them to seize £163,501 in cash suspected of being obtained through crime under the Proceeds of Crime Act. The unit has also received four restraint orders, restraining assets and freezing bank accounts valued in excess of £2 million. They currently have confiscation applications against convicted criminals totalling in excess of £500,000.
