POLICE are still hunting the arsonist responsible for setting fire to a car while it was being towed away.

According to police, a silver Renault Clio was being loaded onto the back of a recovery lorry near Shortlands railway station last Wednesday when it was deliberately set alight.

Officers are looking for three men aged between 17 and 20 who were seen by the car before the fire.

The first was 5ft 2in tall with short dark hair, wearing jeans and a grey and black shirt. Another wore a hooded and jeans.

The car was apparently firebombed after it was clamped for being illegally parked in Nightingale Court, in Valley Road.

Fire crews had the blaze under control within 45 minutes.
