The body of a man in his mid-30s was found in bushes on Friday, August 21

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information following the death of a man on Friday (August 21).

Officers were called to Sydenham Hill at 8pm on August 21 to a man found unresponsive in bushes.

The London Ambulance Service attended and the man, aged in his mid-30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A firearm was found and recovered by police.

A police spokesman said: “We believe we know the name of the deceased, but await formal identification. Next of kin have been informed.”

A post-mortem examination took place on Sunday at Greenwich Mortuary and gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Officers from Southwark CID are investigating alongside colleagues from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.

Enquiries continue and there have been no arrests.
