A SCHOOL is celebrating all things pi next Monday when all departments join mathematicians to pay homage to the irrational number.

Langley Park School for Boys, in Beckenham, is holding a Pi and Maths Day with a host of activities taking place. The school will hold a pi reciting competition to see whether students can beat the school record of reciting 33 decimal places of the 3.14 number.

In English, pupils will be challenged to come up with a sentence where all the words are the same length as pi - the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter - and to try and make it rhyme. And, of course, there will be plenty of pies on the lunch menu.
