A FORMER primary school teacher who admitted to posessing 22 indecent images of children has escaped a jail sentence.

Matthew Quinney, who used to work at Tubbenden Primary School in Orpington, was sentenced last Friday at Woolwich Crown Court after pleading guilty to the charges. The teacher, of Castleton Road, Grove Park, was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment suspended for two years and given a supervision order and has to take a 14 month internet sexual offenders programme. He will be on the sex offenders register for five years and has been disqualified from working with children indefinitely. Following his arrest last September, he was suspended from the school in Sandy Bury and has now resigned.
