A COUNCIL has condemned a former primary school teacher who admitted to possessing 22 indecent images of children.
Matthew Quinney, formerly a teacher Tubbenden Primary School in Orpington, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court last Thursday and pleaded guilty to 22 counts of possessing indecent images of children. The teacher, of Castleton Road, Grove Park, has now resigned after his suspension from the school in Sandy Bury following his arrest last September. Headteacher of the school Michael Youlton declined to comment but a spokesman for Bromley council said: "We condemn Matthew Quinney's criminal actions. His offences were a complete breach of trust towards his pupils and colleagues, even though they were not directly related to Tubbenden Schools.
"He was suspended immediately when police began investigating and has since resigned from his post. We cannot comment further while legal proceedings are ongoing."
He is due to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on March 13 for sentencing.
