A persistent thief who stole handbags and purses from women on the London Underground has been jailed and banned from the Tube.

Peter Dallip, from Bromley, was caught in the act by a plain-clothes British Transport Police officer in October after a two-month spree – but continued to offend even while he was on bail.

Dallip, 54, of Bradgate Road, was jailed for 14 months and banned from the Tube in zones 1 and 2 for five years after being convicted of three counts of theft and one of attempted theft at Blackfriars Crown Court.

Detective Constable Soraya White said: “Dallip took advantage of crowded trains and stations before making his move.”
