Bromley pupils join 500 children from across London for sports sessions
Pupils from Perry Hall Primary School in Perry Hall Road, Orpington, enjoyed free hockey and tennis coaching sessions along with 500 other schoolchildren at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre at its annual Schools Festival.
More than 50 primary schools representing every London borough, as well as Hertfordshire and Essex, were invited to the world class sports venue at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The event, on May 19 and 20. was hosted by Lee Valley Regional Park Authority in partnership with Lee Valley Leisure Trust.
Del Goddard, Lee Valley Leisure Trust chairman said: “Hundreds of young people have had the chance to try hockey and tennis for free over the last two days. For the majority of them, it will have been the first time that they have played these sports and we hope that they will be inspired by their experience at this fantastic venue.”
Primary school pupils in Years 3 and 4 (seven to nine years old) enjoyed expert coaching in Quicksticks – a fun four-a-side taster for hockey, and Mini Tennis – a perfect introduction to the sport.
