A lawn worthy of Wimbledon has arrived outside the Churchill Theatre, in Bromley High Street, that will host a number of events this summer.

The High Street Garden, supported by the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund, will host activities such as martial arts demonstrations, mini golf and live entertainment until September.

The 800 square feet of artificial grass is joined by colourful benches and beanbag seats for shoppers to rest and enjoy the sunshine.

Cllr Peter Morgan, executive for renewal and recreation, said: “This summer’s schedule of events on our new High Street Garden heralds the start of an exciting time for Bromley town centre.

“Why not come along and see what’s happening and relax in the garden while you shop.”

The garden marks the start of improvements in Bromley town centre, including new trees to be planted, improved shop fronts and pedestrian friendly countdown crossings.

Work is also set to begin on the £5million Bromley North Village scheme in East Street from July 29.
