HOPEFUL pantomime stars were given tips by former Brookside actress Claire Sweeney.

She was in Market Square, in Bromley, last Thursday recruiting youngsters for The Churchill's performance of Sleeping Beauty, in which she is due to play the wicked fairy.

The event, called Robinsons Search for a Star, was part of a national campaign to encourage children to audition for their local pantomime.

Ms Sweeney said: "I love Bromley. I spent time here two years ago when I did Shout! at The Churchill and it's like a home from home. Bromley audiences are great and this is a brilliant opportunity for young people to get involved."

Auditions will take place at The Churchill from 3 to 6pm on September 19 and places are limited to 400.
