He was convicted of child sex offences and sexual assault
A 61-year-old who carried out a number of sexual assaults on children and a woman has been jailed for more than two decades.
John Tuohy of no fixed address was found guilty of six child sex offences and one count of sexual assault on a woman, with one offence dating back to the 1970s.
One of Tuohy’s victims was just four-years-old.
Her abuse was revealed in 2014 during a medical appointment when she reported he had assaulted her in a caravan in Whitstable after telling her that her parents already knew.
He was also convicted of the sexual assault of a woman at her home in Bromley telling her: “Come on, you know you want this.”
The third victim to come forward revealed Tuohy had raped her during the Christmas period in the 1970s, when she was just a child.
He reportedly gave her sweets afterwards.
He was sentenced today (February 26) to an extended sentence of 22 years - 18 years in prison and a further four years on licence.
DC Emily Hooper said: “Tuohy has shown a complete lack of empathy and remorse towards the victims and the crimes he has committed throughout this investigation.
“The victims and witnesses in this case have shown great courage and bravery during what can only have been a horrendous ordeal for them.
“The sentence Tuohy has received today shows Kent Police take allegations of this nature extremely seriously, however long ago the offences happened and that offenders of these crimes will be brought to justice.’
