A pair of robbers have been jailed for 13 years after stealing £7,000 worth of tobacco and cigarettes from a delivery driver.

Amit Hindocha, 37, of Quilter Road, and Charlie Hone, 19, of Carew Way, both in Orpington, pleaded guilty to robbery and were jailed for seven and six years respectively at Southwark Crown Court last week.

On the morning of April 10, a delivery driver was in Eldred Drive, Orpington, when a car drove up and two males ran around the rear of the lorry.

They began threatening the victim with a small hammer and demanded he give them the tobacco, before hitting him on the leg and stealing a number of bags from the lorry.

Hindocha and Hone were quicky identified as suspects, with Hindocha arrested at home the following day and Hone on May 9.

Further charges of having an offensive weapon and assault were ordered to remain on Hindocha’s file by the court.
