The Rotary Club of Orpington this week begins to plant 100 trees donated by the Woodland Trust in nearby schools.

Past president Brian Poland, and Orpington MP Jo Johnson, planted the first tree today (Friday) at Perry Hall School, in Perry Hall Road.

Mr Johnson said: “Trees are an uplifting addition to our communities and I’m glad to help the Rotary Club reverse their decline.

“Congratulations to the boys and girls of Perry Hall School’s gardening club for planting what will in time I’m sure grow to become a mighty oak.”
