Nine years for St Mary Cray man

An Orpington man has been jailed for attempting to rob a vulnerable 79-year-old woman in her own home.

Billy Brown, aged 31, of Robin Hood Green, St Mary Cray, Orpington, was jailed for nine years at Croydon Crown Court on Monday, May 11, after being found guilty of attempted robbery.

Brown targeted the victim by befriending her and doing small tasks around her house. On October 3, 2014, he attended the victim’s house and demanded money from her. The victim said that she didn’t have any money and Brown threatened her, demanding money.

Over the next two days Brown returned to her house, continuing to demand money, threaten her and even attempting to pull the rings off her fingers.

Although Brown had given the victim a false name, officers were able to trace and arrest him on October , 2014.

Brown denied the offence throughout, but was found guilty by the jury.
