An Orpington man was arrested after shining a laser directly at the Met Police helicopter in the early hours of this morning.

The 46-year-old was caught after the helicopter crew used their video equipment to trace the laser source.

Police on the ground were directed to a property in St Paul’s Cray, where the man was arrested.

He was taken to a south London police station, where he admitted the offence and was given a caution for endangering the safety of an aircraft.
