An Orpington garage fire, almost turned into an explosion, after propane and oxygen cylinders were found at the scene by firefighters, yesterday.

The garage on Mickleham Road was destroyed and an adjoining shed and fence were also damaged.

Seven 19kg propane cylinders, two 13kg propane cylinders and four 3kg oxygen cylinders had to be cooled and removed from the scene,

The cree were called at 1pm and managed to get the blaze under control by 4.17pm.

Firefighters from Biggin Hill and Bexley fire stations also attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but under investigation.
