A funeral director has been named as one of the best in the UK following an inspection from an independent funeral consumer advocacy organisation.

Colin Fisher Funeral Directors, in Orpington, was named after an in depth inspection by the Good Funeral Guide.

The review said: “There’s nothing super-smart about their funeral home, nor is it intimidating or clinical or gloomy, as some funeral homes can be. It’s comfy and lived in and really very cheerful. There is a visitors’ area consisting of a kitchen, a seating area, toilets and the chapel of rest, where you can visit the person who has died in privacy, help yourself to drinks and get yourself ready to face the world again.”

The accreditation process involved spending time behind the scenes in order to ascertain that those who have died are cared for with the utmost tenderness and respect, as well as ensuring people are listened to with empathy and offered a full range of choice when arranging a funeral.

Charles Cowling, author of the Good Funeral Guide, said: “Choosing a funeral director can be very difficult because they all look much the same. But they’re not. Some, a precious few, are truly outstanding, and Colin Fisher Funeral Directors is one of them.

“The team at Colin Fisher Funeral Directors are unsung heroes doing a magnificent job, and the people of Orpington and surrounding areas deserve to know this. Bereaved people need to do their very best for their loved one. They deserve the very best funeral director.”
