Thieves who stole a car and later sold it on for almost £20,000 have been jailed for a combined three and a half years.

Amos Vincent, 30, and Jason Webb, 26, both of Teal Avenue, in St Mary Cray, pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle and attempted burglary at Croydon Crown Court on February 26.

On November 5 the occupants of a house in Gilman’s Way, Orpington, were woken by their house alarm to find their front door open and their Land Rover Discovery missing from the drive.

Vincent and Webb were later arrested by officers who identified them from CCTV in the area.

The car was found in Leicestershire using false number plates, having been sold in Auto Trader for £19,200.

Both thieves pleaded not guilty throughout proceedings, but later changed their plea before the jury was sworn in.
