A serial thief who stole a car radio in Beckenham has been jailed for 24 weeks.

Jamie Robery, 33, of Saltwood Close, Orpington pleaded guilty to theft from a motor vehicle at Bromley Magistrates Court last week having previously been convicted 29 times for 42 theft offences.

Officers stopped Robery in Station Road, Shortlands, in the early hours of April 12 and found him out of breath from running.

Retracing his route, they found a car in St Martin’s Road with a smashed window and missing radio, which was uncovered a short distance away - along with a screwdriver hidden under another car.

Robery was previously jailed at Woolwich Crown Court for nine months in January for burglary and theft. He had been released for little more than a month when arrested for his latest offence.
