PEOPLE waiting for council accommodation can now 'bid' online for properties following the launch of a new system last week.

The new Bromley Homeseekers system, managed by Home Connections on behalf of Bromley council, went live last Thursday. It will not mean there are more properties available in the borough or that people will be re-housed more quickly but the council claims it will give those who are eligible greater choice.

Existing housing applicants who have responded to requests sent to them to review their information have been re-registered on the system while future applicants will register online.

Applicants will 'bid' for advertised properties whose criteria they meet. The property will then be let to those who have placed a bid and who have the highest priority. For those with a similar priority, the property will be let to the household on the housing register longest.
