TWO carjackers assaulted a pensioner before stealing his car, writes Kate Nelson.

The victim had pulled over to the side of the road in Glebe Way, West Wickham on April 8 at about 11.30am when the two robbers approached him.

One of the thieves knocked on the back of the 65-year-old victim's car and shouted that there was a dog stuck underneath it.

When the pensioner got out to check the back of his car, he found one thief crouching down and was pushed to the ground by him while the other opportunist jumped in and drove off in his vehicle, a black Mitsubishi Pickup L200.

Both cars then left the scene by cutting across the road into the one-way street next to Focus DIY in Croydon Road. The thief who pushed the pensioner to the ground is white, aged about 25, 5'9", with collar length brown hair and there are distinctive 'Animal' logos on the side of the victim's vehicle.

Call Detective Constable Paul Winter at Bromley Police on 020 8284 9969 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
