POLICE have launched a new number to report all non-emergency incidents.

The Metropolitan Police Commission launched the new number, 0300 123 1212, this month to be used by residents across the capital.

This is in a bid to reduce the number of inappropriate 999 calls which they hope will enable them to act quicker to actual emergencies.

Residents can still call 999 in an emergency which the police define as when a crime is happening, someone suspected of a crime is known to be nearby, or someone is injured, being threatened or in danger.
