Hayes residents jumped forward in time last week as they unveiled their new commemorative Diamond Jubilee clock.

The regal timepiece replaces the original 1977 Silver Jubilee clock in the central reservation of Station Approach, with its older counterpart now hung in Old Hayes.

Through the Hayes’s Village Association, the community came together to raise funds for the clock - with Bromley Council contributing £1,260.

The clock face is made up of the sixty years of the Queen’s reign rather than minutes, with 2012 marking 12 o’clock.

Cllr Graham Arthur, executive for resources, said: “It is a wonderful way to remember a very special year in our history and I am sure the clock will be enjoyed by generations for years to come.”
