A MUSIC society will celebrate its diamond anniversary with a performance by a renowned clarinet player.

Emma Johnson, who was crowned BBC Young Musician of the Year in 1982, will perform at the Old Bexley Music Society next month.

The former Orpington schoolgirl will be playing with pianist John Lenehan on Wednesday, October 7, at Townley Theatre, Townley Grammar School, in Townley Road, Bexleyheath.

Membership of the society, which costs £27.50, includes six free concerts plus visits to London venues at a reduced price.

Tickets usually cost £8 but are priced £10 for the Emma Johnson recital.
