A GROUP of young violinists received top marks in a music festival.

The 13 musicians, aged seven upwards, from the Andreas Nicolaou School of Music, Orpington were awarded the highest score 96 out of 100 at the Bromley Festival of Music and Speech on March 1.

They played a varied 15-minute selection of ensemble pieces, from memory, which forms part of an hour-long programme they are preparing for a concert trip to Prague in April.

To fundraise for the event, the group will be performing the programme on Friday, March 28 at St George's RAF Chapel, Main Road, Biggin Hill.

Tickets (including wine or juice) are £7 for adults (concessions £5) and are available at the door or in advance. For more information call 01689 890784.
