Murder investigation launched for young man in Chislehurst

An investigation has been launched in Chilslehurst after an 18-year-old man was assaulted, and later died from his injuries.

Police were called to an incident in Chislehurst at approximately 21:05pm last night to reports of a fight on Empress Drive.

Officers attended and found an injured man, who was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a South London hospital, where he later died.

His next of kin have been informed and a postmortem examination will be held in due course.

Detective from the Homicide and Major Crime Comand are dealing with the incident, which is being led by DCI Tim Wright.

He said: “We understand that neighbours and people passing through the area witnessed the incident on Tuesday evening. We are keen to speak to all witnesses and would encourage them to come forward as soon as possible.

“A young man has lost his life and we are doing everything we can to piece together what took place.”

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
