Motorcyclist in hospital after lorry crash on Beckenham road

The road has since reopened

A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital after colliding with a lorry in Beckenham this afternoon.

Upper Elmers End Road remains closed after the crash, which happened at around 1pm.

Police have confirmed the motorcyclist’s injuries are “not believed to be life threatening”.

A spokesperson from Met Police said: “We were called at around 1pm to reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a lorry.

“The motorcyclist was taken to a south London hospital for treatment.

“Road closures are currently in place. There have been no arrests.”

The road has since reopened, after closure caused the 194, 356 and 358 bus routes to divert.

A spokesperson from London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.59pm to Upper Elmers End Road to reports of a road traffic collision.

“We sent two ambulance crews to the scene.

“We treated a man for an arm injury and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

London Fire Brigade confirmed it was called to the scene at 1.07pm.

On arrival crews established no casualties were trapped and left the scene at 1.37pm.
