More than 1,000 poppies installed in Bromley High Street
Shoppers will be seeing red after 1,000 giant poppies were installed in Bromley High Street.
The flowers will decorate lampposts for the next three weeks to support this year’s fundraising appeal for the Royal British Legion.
Cash from the poppy appeal supports the wounded and bereaved of the armed forces.
Cllr Colin Smith said: “Seeing Bromley town centre decorated in such a poignant manner should hopefully make everybody stop and think about the past sacrifices that have, and indeed those which still being made for us all today.
“We are honoured to show our remembrance and solidarity in such a symbolic way.”
Poppy Appeal collection points will be stationed around the town centre, in the Churchill Theatre, Central Library and at various shops.
Nationally, the Royal British Legion is seeking to raise a record-breaking £42m following a sum of £40m last year.
