A vicar has taken over the lead role in a busy parish.

Millwall-fan the Reverend Paul Prentice was licensed as priest in charge of St Andrew’s Church, in Anglesea Road, Orpington, on Monday.

The new priest has been a curate at St Peter and St Paul, Bromley, and previously trained at the South East Institute for Theological Education.

The father-of-two said: “It is a privilege to be licensed as the new priest in charge of St Andrew’s, Orpington.

“I am delighted to have been offered this post, which I believe has real scope and potential to be a living, breathing witness to God to the people of Orpington and the Crays.”

He added: “I look forward to the next stage of my journey of faith.”
