A NEWSPAPER group is set to publish its final editions in Bromley and Bexley this week after a 30-day consultation into its closure.

The Kent Messenger Group has entered into consultation last month after plans to earmark two free newspapers, the Bromley Extra and the Bexley Extra, were announced. The majority of staff at the Extra offices in Maidstone Road, Foots Cray are said to have been moved to other titles in the Kent Messenger group. Since its launch in 2004, the Extra has faced fierce competition from Archant London's Bromley Times and its sister title - the EDF London and South East Regional weekly free newspaper of the year - the great Bexley Times.
