Two men have been arrested following a burglary and an assault of an elderly couple.

The burglary occurred in the early hours of June 9 at an address in Chislehurst Road, Petts Wood.

A 69-year-old man and his 67-year-old wife were tied up and subjected to a “vicious attack”, which resulted in them both being taken to hospital, before the men fled with a quantity of jewellery and cash.

Following the incident, DS Gary Head of Bromley police said: “This was a vicious attack on an elderly couple and I would appeal for anyone who may have seen these two males in the area at the time of the incident to contact us immediately.”

After officers executed arrest warrants in Pyrland Road, Islington and Denham Road, Barnet, on July 15 a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH and conspiracy to burgle and a 23-year-old man was arrested for GBH, conspiracy to burgle and cultivation of cannabis.

Drugs were found at both addresses, with a 50 plant cannabis factory at the Barnet address.

Both suspects remain in custody at a South London police station.
