A man from Orpington will be running the Eden Project Marathon next month to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.

Mark Hill has been fundraising for the charity since his father died of MND in August, shortly after being diagnosed.

He said: “It’s important to raise awareness so people are able to identify symptoms early.

“My dad was only diagnosed three weeks ago before he passed away on August 30.”

Mark said the diagnosis came as a shock.

“Dad was already in intensive care when he was diagnosed,” he said.

“So we didn’t think things could get any worse.

“This has come nearly two years after my Mum passed away from skin cancer, so personally it’s been a very hard couple of years.

“I think it’s important to carry on raising awareness and also to unlock the code of the causes of MND.”

Mark is hoping to raise £1,500 for the charity.
