The estranged husband of a woman found dead in a Bromley flat will stand trial for murder.

Martin Cavanagh, 35, is accused of killing Sophie Cavanagh, 31, in Chatterton Road, Bromley, between May 18 and 21.

He appeared at the Old Bailey by video link on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to a single charge of murder.

He was remanded in custody and is due to stand trial on November 19.

Mrs Cavanagh’s death was initially treated as unexplained, but Scotland Yard launched a murder probe after initial findings from the post-mortem examination suggested it was suspicious.

A provisional cause of death was given as compression of the neck.
