A 57-YEAR-OLD man who groped a vulnerable woman has been jailed for more than two years.

Peter Christopher of Cockerill Road, Orpington, groped a 57-year-old woman at her sheltered home in St Paul's Cray on February 17, Croydon Crown Court heard.

He insisted he was innocent but was found guilty and was sentenced for 27 months on Tuesday.

Judge Simon Pratt told Christopher, who was said to have health problems and hobbled into court with the aid of a walking stick, said: "You appear to have targeted this small timid middle-aged lady when you were in drink. You went to her home where she had, of all places, the right to feel safe. You engineered the departure of another occupant by getting him to get more drinks, and it got to the stage you were sitting astride her and you started groping the area of her breasts under her clothes but on top of her bra."

Christopher's name will go on the sex offenders' register for life.
