Man dies at Orpington Christmas lights switch-on

A 60-year old man has died after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest during a Christmas lights switch-on in Orpington.

Police were called after he collapsed outside the Walnuts Shopping Centre at around 7.30pm last night.

A Met spokesman said: “Officers performed CPR on the male at the scene until the London Ambulance Service arrived.

“A 60 year old male was taken to the Princess Royal University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.”

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
