A man has died after being hit by a train in a suspected suicide at Petts Wood station on Saturday morning.

Police and medical crews, including the air ambulance, attended the scene at around 11.30am, off West Approach, but the man was pronounced dead shortly after.

He is yet to be identifies, but is believed to have been in his early 20s.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.34am on October 19 to reports of a person under a train at Petts Wood station.

“Sadly, one person was pronounced dead at the scene by the doctor from the air ambulance.

“Two patients were checked over for shock, but did not require any further treatment.”

British Transport Police say the incident is being treated as non-suspicious.

Trains were delayed by up to 50 minutes between Sevenoaks and Petts Wood until around 6pm on Saturday.
