Steven Braithwaite, 31, of no fixed abode, allegedly fatally stabbed Nilanthan Murddi, in Sumner Street, Croydon, on August 16 this year.

Mr Murddi, a former pupil at Langley Park School for Girls mixed sixth form, in Hawksbrook Lane, Beckenham, was the 23rd teenager to be killed in London this year when he died from a single knife wound to the neck

Mr Murddi's aunt, Usha Muralithanan, 48, paid tribute to her nephew.

She said: "He was a very lively young boy. He was family orientated and helpful. He was studying for his A levels and wanted to help his dad build up their restaurant businesses.
