A HORSE owner who followed a 15-year-old girl into the toilets of a stable and tried to undress her was jailed for two years at Croydon Crown Court last Friday.

Peter Blake, 50, of Old Tye Avenue, Biggin Hill, was found guilty last month after the court heard he tried to undress a girl who had been visiting the riding stables in Jail Lane on November 6 last year.

Defending, Madeleine Wolff said: "This was a very limited assault. No physical harm came to this young lady."

But Judge Simon Pratt told Blake: "It must have been a terrifying experience for her.

"You took advantage of that little girl, having initially befriended her and, after some minor inappropriate behaviour, you followed her into the outside privy. It was dark by now and you turned the light off. In that dark and cramped toilet you started touching her back."

He then had a go at undoing her trousers, but he didn't get very far as she managed to escape.

Blake, who was said to have a previous conviction for attempted rape in the 1970s, was disqualified from working with children for the rest of his life and he will be on the sex offenders register for the next 10 years.
