A 67-year-old man was found dead in a house in Chislehurst this morning after a suspected gas leak.
Police broke the door of the house down in Woodside Avenue at 11.45am after reports of a person collapsed.
Paramedics were called but a London Ambulance spokesman said the man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “We were called by a neighbour to reports of a man collapsed at an address in Woodside Avenue.
“There was a strong smell of gas. Sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a post-mortem will take place in due course.”
Firefighters, who had been called to reports of a gas leak, made sure the surrounding area was safe.
