A SEMINAR for filmmakers featuring talks by crew from films like Harry Potter and Eastern Promises is taking place this month.

BAFTA winners Straight Curve are holding their one-day event on Saturday, May 24 in Bromley central library halls.

Aimed at new and old filmmakers, speakers will include The Cottage and London to Brighton director Paul Andrew Williams, comedy horror director and writer Johannes Roberts and crew from various blockbuster films.

Course director and producer, Tina Lockett, said: "This is the first time an event like this has been held in Bromley.

"We really do have some very prestigious people coming down, one of the highlights will be Paul Andrew Williams who is a brilliant director.

"There'll also be a warts and all account of the film industry by Ben Blains, a short filmmaker.

"We want to encourage and find talent from the area.

"It's fantastic value for money and it will give visitors a chance to sample the world of filmmaking."

Film workshops will be running at the same time where visitors can sample scriptwriting, special effects make up, sound recording and stills photography.

The event costs £10 and workshops are an additional £2. Full details are at www.straightcurve.co.uk.
