Television detective Kevin Whately took time away from solving murders to hand over a new 16-seater coach to a Bromley school last week.

The star of ITV’s Lewis gave the keys to Martyn O’Donnell, headmaster at Kingswood School, in Hayes Lane, who work with young people facing difficulties in mainstream education.

Kevin presented the coach on behalf of Orpington-based telecommunications firm, FLR Spectron.

The presentation was made at the Variety Club Golf Society’s charity golf day, in Uxbridge, at which the former Morse and Auf Wiedersehen Pet star was a captain for the day.

Headmaster Mr O’Donnell said: “This coach will make such a difference, culturally and socially, to the life of the school.

“In particular, it will enable students on our Duke of Edinburgh programme to travel easily overseas, broadening their horizons and opening up new opportunities to develop themselves as young people.”
