African and Russian food will be on offer

GREEN-fingered wannabes are invited to an open day at the Lower Road Allotments in Orpington on bank holiday Monday.

Food from around the world, a beer tent with home-brewed beer and lager, a bouncy castle, charity stalls, a barbecue and tea and coffee will be among the attractions at the open day – the first in the allotments’ history.

Bromley Mayor Kim Botting will also be at the event, which will run from 10am to 5pm, and pupils from Perry Hall and St Mary Cray primary schools have designed the bunting.

Entry is free, and all the money raised from food sales will be donated to children’s charities.
