A MACHETE-wielding robber who burst in to a house and threatened to 'chop up' a family unless they handed over cash and keys to a top-of-the-range BMW is facing jail.
Martin Mitchell, 32, of London Road, Bromley, was one of three intruders who kicked down the door to the Todd family home.
He then held a blade to the throat of 26-year-old son Marvin as the burglars made their demands for money and possessions.
Mitchell warned menacingly: "If you don't tell us where it is I'm going to chop his hand off, I'm going to chop his toes off."
A second man waved a kitchen knife towards terrified mum Denise, while a third armed man kept guard on the stairs.
They eventually fled with two flat screen TVs, £800 cash emptied from a safe and a set of spare keys to a 52-plate BMW 5-series, which was stolen from the driveway two days later.
Last Wednesday, Mitchell was unanimously convicted of aggravated burglary.
After the jury's verdict at the Old Bailey it emerged he has a string of convictions for similar offences dating back more than 10 years.
He was remanded in custody to be sentenced on September 26.
