Kings College Hospital bids to run Princess Royal in Farnborough
Thirty-nine bids have been received by administrators to run different parts of the failed trust South London Healthcare Trust, which was placed into administration in July.
King’s Health Partners, which runs King’s College Hospital, South London and Maudsley and Guy’s and St Thomas’ has expressed an interest in taking over some services at the Princess Royal in Farnborough.
South London Healthcare was also managing Queen Mary’s in Sidcup and Queen Elizabeth in Woolwich until history was made when it was placed into special measures. It is the first time an NHS trust has been effectively bankrupted.
It is highly unlikely that South London Healthcare will remain as one body. Large debts at Princess Royal and Queen Elizabeth make them less attractive prospects than Queen Mary’s.
