Archant London (publishers of your Times/Reporter is once again celebrating the very best of food and drink in and around the capital by handing out tasty awards for excellence.
Over the past five years the Archant London Food and Drink Awards has established itself as one of the most prestigious awards to win with dozens of recipients from within the food and catering industries proud to be part of it.
For Archant London it's a great an opportunity to reward excellence and celebrate the diversity of food across London, Essex and Kent.
This year's guest host of our glittering finalist ceremoney is Gregg Wallace.
Gregg is more recently recognised as part of the double act that presents the television programme, BBC Masterchef.
Gregg himself also owns his own vegetable growing business and supplies fruit and vegetables to most of London's top restaurants. The venue will be The Landmark Hotel, Marylebone, on Sunday 12th July, 2009.
Archant London's managing director Enzo Testa said: "These awards have taken on a life of their own. The overwhelming response from London diners, yet again re-enforces the quality and diversity of the regions eateries."
For this year there are still 16 categories, although a new category for 2009 is Best Takeaway. Whilst Archant London recognises the hundreds of exquisite places to dine in the capital, we also know that there is a huge wealth of food establishments that cater for the Londoner on the go, and as such we want this to be recognized and rewarded.
Restaurants will be encouraged to register online to enter the awards. Once registration is complete, they will be sent voting packsthat will contain business cards which can be given to their customers to encourage them to vote online. Voting will start at the beginning of March 2009.
All restaurants need to have registered by 27th February 2009. Voting will run for eight weeks.
Once voting is closed and votes are counted and verified we will announce the local winners.
Every newspaper across London could have a winner for each of the 16 categories. The winner will be the restaurant with the most online votes.
Each local winner will then go forward to become the overall regional winner.
The regional winners will not be announced until the event on the 12th July 2009. The regional winner will be the restaurant with the most votes across the whole of Archant London for their designated category.
Archant London is looking for sponsors for local categories and overall category sponsorship. There are various sponsorship opportunities available. Deborah King is the contact 020 8477 3986 firstname.lastname@example.org.
