Figures were released today (Thursday)

Figures released today suggest London’s homes cost more than two-thirds of the world’s private islands.

‘The Island Review’ published by property consultancy Knight Frank show 65 per cent of private islands for sale cost less than £340,000.

The average cost for first-time buyers in the capital is £364,000.

Labour’s London mayor candidate Sadiq Khan said: “When my wife and I were young, we were able to work hard and save up to buy our own home.

“Buying a family home in London shouldn’t be a luxury - and it’s absurd that most of the world’s private islands now cost less than a London home.”
